First Aid at Work

First Aid Arrangements

At our school, the health, safety and wellbeing of all pupils, staff and visitors is a priority. We have robust first aid arrangements in place in line with the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981, ensuring that appropriate support is always readily available across all areas of the school.

Staffing and Training

  • All Teaching Assistants are trained in Emergency First Aid, ensuring that immediate support can be provided within classrooms and during activities throughout the school day.
  • All Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) classes have a designated member of staff who holds Paediatric First Aid training, in accordance with statutory EYFS requirements.
  • Each department has a number of trained First Aiders, including staff with:
    First Aid at Work (FAW)
    Paediatric First Aid (PFA)

This ensures that qualified first aiders are always available within close proximity to pupils and staff across the school at all times.

First Aid Provision
  • Every classroom and teaching space is equipped with its own first aid kit, which is regularly checked, maintained and replenished.
  • Additional first aid equipment is available in key areas across the school site, including specialist provision areas.
  • Clear procedures are in place for responding to accidents, incidents and medical needs, including escalation where necessary.
